Living in Falls Church, Virginia, a second son, David Welch Haun, is born.Gen. Smith was Haun's CO when the Col. became Chief Pilot of MATS.

Haun was the VIP Squadron CO at Washington National - not the Presidential Pilot, who was under Haun's Command.
